A VIRTUAL EDUCATION EVENT
In ANZGOG’s ongoing effort to offer educational opportunities to Fellows, Trainees, Registrars, and early career clinicians, ANZGOG will be conducting a Virtual Preceptorship in Endometrial Cancer.
When?
Friday 2 December 2022 from 12.00pm – 5.30pm (AEDT), and
Saturday 3 December 2022 from 10.00am – 12.00pm (AEDT)
The Preceptorship in Endometrial Cancer 2022 learning objectives are:
- To learn about best clinical practice in the multi-disciplinary management of early and late stage endometrial cancer
- To understand the importance of biology and pathology of common and rare endometrial tumours
- To understand the options for treatment of recurrent disease and how treatment-decisions are made
- To learn about the management of patients with symptoms of the disease and the side-effects of treatments

Meet the Chair and co-Chairs of the Preceptorship 2022
Chair, Dr Michelle Wilson, and co-Chairs, Dr Lawrence Kasherman and Assoc Prof Emma Allanson.
Dr Michelle Wilson is a medical oncologist who subspecialises in gynaecological cancers and early-phase clinical trials. She is the clinical director for Cancer and Blood Research at Auckland City Hospital. Dr Wilson is a very active researcher, and is also one of 4 Principal Investigators with the early phase Auckland Cancer Trials Centre. Dr Wilson’s research focus is geared towards early phase translational studies and clinical trial endpoints, in particular their utility and evolution in the era of precision oncology. She was awarded a medical doctorate on this topic in 2018 through the University of Auckland.
Dr Wilson is a member of the ANZGOG Board of Directors, Research Advisory Committee and the Deputy Chair of the ANZGOG Ovarian Tumour Working Group. She also sits on the OASIS Steering Committee.
Lawrence Kasherman is a medical oncologist based in Wollongong, NSW. He obtained his medical degree at the University of Newcastle and subsequent physician and medical oncology training through various hospitals including St George, Prince of Wales and Wollongong Hospitals. He has a strong interest in the care of patients affected by gynaecologic cancers, having completed a fellowship with the Gynecology and Drug Development group in Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, Canada in 2020. His research interests are in the area of cancer survivorship and supportive care, and he is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Sydney looking into improving outcomes for cancer survivors from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Lawrence has been an ANZGOG member since 2017, and is an active member in the ANZGOG Uterine Tumour Type Working Group and the ANZGOG EDEN Research Initiative (Survivorship, Surveillance and Rehabilitation focus group).
Associate Professor Emma Allanson is a consultant gynaecological oncologist with a full time public appointment at King Edward Memorial Hospital in Perth, Western Australia. She has academic appointments at the University of Western Australia and the University of Notre Dame. Emma has a Masters in Public Health and a PhD in global women’s health. In addition to having lived and worked in South Africa in 2014, Emma worked as a consultant in 2015 in Geneva for WHO in the Department of Reproductive Health and Research (RHR), and has undertaken a research fellowship in the global prevention of cervical cancer with Dr Kathleen Schmeler at MD Anderson Cancer Centre (Houston, Texas) in 2020. Emma’s current research activity includes work with colleagues in Vanuatu on cervical cancer screening and colleagues across Africa and the USA assessing available cervical cancer treatment in Africa. Emma is a member of the ANZGOG cervical cancer working group, the ANZGOG 2023 ASM committee and is looking forward to co-chairing the ANZGOG endometrial cancer preceptorship.
