ANZGOG has united with Ovarian Cancer Australia and the Australian Society of Gynaecologic Oncologists (ASGO) to launch the Ovarian Cancer National Action Plan (NAP) 2020 – 2025.
The NAP sets out a roadmap for tackling ovarian cancer. It was developed over many months in partnership with key organisations, women living with ovarian cancer and opinion leaders who play an instrumental role in research, treatment and support aimed at improving survival rates and quality of life and reducing the incidence of ovarian cancer in Australia.
At any one time, it is estimated that over 4,000 families are impacted by ovarian cancer throughout Australia.
We are most grateful to all the women with ovarian cancer who contributed to this plan.
Their feedback reassured us that the priorities outlined in the plan reflect the needs and hopes for the future of women with ovarian cancer. Those who responded agreed on priorities and were resolute that collaboration is essential to attract further investment expedite progress.
The NAPs five core priorities are:
- Patient- and family-centered care and support diagnosis and treatment of early detection biology/aetiology prevention.
